OUR ROOTS

IT STARTS WITH FOOD…

Everything is made to order by our chefs using only the freshest organic ingredients. Our meals are tasty, dense, nutrient-rich, and we source local and organic produce. We don't use frozen or processed ingredients, we never use preservatives, and we keep hydrogenated oils and refined sugar to a absolute minimum. We want the natural flavors of real food to come through. Look at our ingredients list, and you will recognize every one of them.

We've been amazingly lucky to work with amazing, taste-maker chefs in LA and have steadily grown without compromising our exceptionally high quality standards. And our unique vegan options are always made-from-scratch (with amazing sauces & dressings) the morning they're served to our customers.

Founder, Ryan Matteson, started "KaleCart" with his wife, Marci, as a produce delivery service in 2013 and a suggestion from a vegan chef-friend helped turn the buisness's focus onto carefully-crafted artisan meals. Originally from Indiana and Louisville, Ky, The Matteson's are active members of their DTLA neighborhood and see their business as a new opportunity to share the massive healing benefits of eating more plants. They also are committed to improving the health of our neighbors on Skid Row and regularly volunteer in the URM kitchen.
